Vehicle New Years Resolutions

Vehicle New Years Resolutions

Are you a terrible vehicle owner? It’s time for Vehicle New Year Resolutions!

It’s that time of year again, when we get together with our families and friends and we eat, drink and be merry. After all the festivities, we think about the next year and start making some resolutions to improve ourselves. However, do we ever think about our cars, trucks, or other vehicles and how we take care of them? What could be some Vehicle New Years Resolutions that can help extend the life of it and might also improve your life too? Let’s go through some examples and make some 2024 New Year’s Resolutions for your vehicle.

1) Clean and wash your vehicle
Some people have better cleaning schedule for their New Years Resolutions. It usually applies to their house. How many people regularly clean their vehicle? There are lots of places to go and wash and clean your vehicles, but how often do you go? Why should you regularly wash and clean your vehicle? These are questions we should ask ourselves when we look at the 2nd most expensive investment in our life after our house. We make resolutions to clean our house, make a garden, take care of some of the house maintenance but we don’t think about doing that with our vehicles. In our nice Canadian climate, we need to do regular washes to maintain the paint and undercarriage of the vehicle from the salt, snow and rain that will destroy your vehicle. Especially the salt, that can lead to rusting and that will lead to the devaluing of the potential trade value of the vehicle. Depending on where you store your vehicle every day, we should look to wash and clean our vehicles every two weeks or so. So, I want you to say it with me, my resolution for 2024 will be to regularly wash and clean my vehicle.

2) Check Your Oil and other fluids
With the cleaning of the vehicle, we need to move on to the next important New Years resolution. How many people say they are going to eat healthier in the new year? We want to eat more vegetables and fruits so we can be healthier and have our bodies perform at their best. Why don’t we do that with our vehicles? Every manual that you receive when you purchase a vehicle says that you need to maintain your vehicle and has a recommended maintenance schedule. Do you follow it? When was the last time you had the transmission fluid check? How about your windshield wiper fluid? We only worry about oil changes, which are important, but other fluids help our vehicle to run smoothly. With regular checkups on your vehicle’s fluids, it will help you repel some car repairs and save you money in the long run. You want your body to be at its best, but we should also want our vehicles to be at their best. Remember they carry the most important things in our lives, kids, dogs, us. Depending on your driving habits, for 2024, your resolution should be checking all the fluids in your vehicle monthly. Keep on top of your regular maintenance by booking an appointment with our service department.

3) Drive Safely
When we make New Years resolutions, we try to eliminate our bad habits and make ourselves better. Many people will say they are going to spend less time looking at their phones as a resolution. What better place to do that than in your vehicle. We are all guilty of quickly looking at that text message or checking the hockey score but taking our eyes away from the road for that 2 or 3 second glance could be the difference in braking in time and avoiding an accident. If you are a constant texter or need up-to-date information from your phone there are many ways to do that without having to take your eyes away from the road. If your vehicle has the options for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, you can have the ability to send a text message without looking away from the road. You can also ask Google or Siri to give you the score of the game. Therefore, for 2024, our resolution should be to eliminate some of the bad habits we have while driving and prevent us from getting into accidents or damaging our prized possessions.

These are 3 New Years resolutions for 2024 we should practice: washing and cleaning regularly, maintaining the health and well being of our vehicles and driving safely. If you follow these resolutions, your vehicle will be better, which could save you some money and help with some of your other personal resolutions. Have a happy New year everyone and let’s maintain our vehicles in 2024.
